After another lovely breakfast outside, we packed up and set off for a nearby beach. We set off a little later than planned, but hey ho, it’s our honeymoon! When we had managed to navigate our way to the so-called road down to the beach, cars were soon parked up at the side for quite a way, but we trundled on, hoping to get lucky closer by. After a bit of jostling, I managed to squeeze the tiny Fiat into a space as good as we could have expected, even being greeted by some friendly locals saying “you’re so lucky!”.
The the beach was a short potter away, and the views from the top of the small cliff overlooking the beach were stunning.
To get down to the beach involved a bit of climbing, but with my helping hand, we made it down.
We had another good session of snorkeling, which we both have really come to enjoy! It’s so fascinating floating along with the fish, that you were otherwise unaware of when above the surface.
After that, we chilled out for some time. Naturally, I was in the shade, whilst Lois was in the sun. Lois collected some shells and sea glass, whilst I watched a battle between a woodlouse and a spider for over half an hour!
Once we’d had enough sun, we clambered back out of the bay and had a look at the other beaches in the cove where we were; both of which were also stunning!
The Italians do love their scooters too!
We then retired to our villa, where we enjoyed some more time in the pool before starting preparations for tea. There was a lovely sunset brewing over the cliffs to our left and as I was walking around, I noticed a fantastic view over past Syracuse of Mount Etna, so we quickly packed our cameras and the drone, and went out to take some shots.
Our villa by night!
We finished off the night with another barbecue, lots of nice drinks and even some cards to round off another amazing day.
